M.Y. Inter-Theatre are proud to have been part of the BAFTA winning film

Facilitators and directors, Jill Young and Steve Mitchell, have been working independently in professional and amateur theatre, education, social services and with people with disabilities for the last 25 years. We met whilst directing and musically directing and in 2010 formed M. Y. Theatre Company.

It was formed to provide a professional performance training environment, initially for late teens and early adults . We have since staged numerous shows, musicals and tours including our own work, entered into the Buxton Fringe, and attracted a wider range of adults and abilities. We also work in schools delivering theatre in education.

In spring 2012 we initiated our first integrated drama session, working with able bodied and physically and learning disabled adults on issue based acting and improvisation. We now have cross generational, transition projects(which we can take into schools to educate and enable youngsters with and without disabilities) we have created a  choirs, drama groups, music groups and dance groups across the county of disabled adults and their friends and carers. We won the Spirit of the Festival Award at the Berterelli Foundation sponsored Regent Academy Creative Arts Festival 2012, and have recently been featured as part of a film and visited by royalty.

Our members are involved in every aspect of performance, from acting, singing and dancing through writing, directing, staging and performing musically all the way to sourcing media exposure and publicising our up and coming events.

M.Y. Theatre and Film Co are always looking for talented, enthusiastic performers to join us. Whether your passion is for acting, singing, dancing or all of the above – we would love you to come and see what we can offer you. And just as importantly, what you can offer us!
